British soprano Elizabeth Karani began her studies at the RNCM, where she received a BMus (First Class Honours) under the tutelage of Susan Roper. She continued her studies at GSMD under Susan McCulloch, and joined the Opera Course in 2014, where major roles included Female Chorus in Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia, Eleonora in Wolf-Ferrari’s Le donne curiose, Armande in Martinů’s Alexandre Bis and Director in Kassof’s Greenland (GSMD/ROH). Professional roles include Musetta (Christine Collins Young Artist, Opera Holland Park), Jano Jenůfa (Longborough Festival Opera), cover Marzelline Fidelio, Jay and cover Cock The Cunning Little Vixen (Garsington Opera), Resi Intermezzo, Angel Jephtha, cover Maiden The Maiden in the Tower (Buxton Opera), Berta Il barbiere di Siviglia (Diva Opera), Helena A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Aldeburgh), Tartagliona The Little Green Swallow, cover Little Moon/Soprano Actor A Night at the Chinese Opera (British Youth Opera), Micaëla Carmen (MJ:UK) and Suor Genovieffa Suor Angelica (Teatro Verdi, Montecatini). Roles at RNCM include Atalanta Serse, Frasquita Carmen, Orestes La Belle Helene and Bat L’enfant et les sortileges. Elizabeth has made concert debuts at the Barbican Hall for LSO Platform, Bridgewater Hall, St John’s Smith Square, Musique Cordiale International Festival and at La Folle Journée, Nantes. Awards include the Elizabeth Harwood Award, the Dame Eva Turner Award, the Elsie Thurston Prize and a Kathleen Ferrier Young Singer’s bursary. She is a Les Azuriales and Park Lane Group Young Artist.
