Laura Zigmantaite mezzo-soprano

Lithuanian mezzo-soprano Laura Zigmantaite studied at the Academy of Music and Theater of Lithuania with professors R. Maciute and S. Stonyte, and then at RAM with Catherine Wyn-Rogers, Iain Ledingham and Jonathan Papp. Still at the outset of her stage career, Laura has already performed the roles of Valetto L’incoranazione di Poppea, The Third Lady The Magic Flute, Rosweisse Die Walkure, Ida Die Fledermaus, The Lady in Red, The Second Siren and The Second Lady (O. Narbutaite’s Lithuanian contemporary opera Kornetas), Cherubino Le nozze di Figaro, Zerlina Don Giovanni, Zita and Suora Zelatrice Gianni Schicchi/Suor Angelica, Mercedes Carmen, Nerone L’incoranazione di Poppea, Hansel Hansel and Gretel and Mother Goose The Rake’s Progress (RAO Scenes), Ms. Bentson Lakmé, the eponymous role in Carmen, Hanna May Night and Judith Duke Bluebeard’s Castle. Singing prizes include first prize at the Giovanni Musicisti competition in Italy, the Isabel Jay Prize and the Mozart Singing Competition.
Laura’s studies have been generously supported by the Simon Fletcher Charitable Trust, John Kenneth Adams and Leverhulme Trust Postgraduate Scholarships (2015/2016), the Patricia Kris Wolfe Prize and the Derek Butler London Scholarship (2014/15).
