Phase three will disconnect the 18 Inch main in Garratt Lane and transfer the gas supplies to Arndale Walk and Sudbury House to the new main. This will require the closure of the north bound bus lane and suspension of bus stops outside Southside on Garratt Lane. Ram Street will be closed south bound. These works are scheduled to take 3 weeks between 15/10/2012 and 02/11/2012.
Between 12/11/2012 and 7/12/2012 the south bound lane of Garratt Lane will be closed and south bound traffic chicaned into Lane two of Garratt Lane northbound and all north bound traffic using Lane one. The northbound Bus Lane will be suspended to allow all traffic to use it and the bus stops outside Southside will be suspended. Ram Street will be closed south bound.
Between 29/10/2012 and 25/01/2013 Lane Four of Wandsworth High Street and Ram Street will be closed south bound. Full closure of Ram Street is expected between 03/12/2012 and 14/12/2012.
This will include a bus lane closure and suspension of the Taxi Rank outside Southside
Ram Street and Wandsworth High Street are part of the Transport for London Road Network and therefore the works and traffic management on these roads fall under the control of TFL. LB Wandsworth have been in close discussion with SGN, TFL, the Met Police, London Buses and other stakeholders regarding the traffic management for these works and are satisfied that the proposed traffic management measures allow us to meet our Network Management Duty as laid out in the Traffic Management Act 2004. In order to speed the works up and ensure they are completed as quickly as possible, gas company engineers will work seven days a week within the following timescales and rules aimed at keeping noise nuisance to a minimum for local residents.
- Monday to Friday - 8am to 10pm (no noisy works after 6pm)
- Saturday - 8am to 4pm (no noisy works after 1pm)
- Sunday - 9am to 1pm (no noisy works at all on this day)
During phases where Ram Street is fully closed, cyclists wishing to use Barclays Cycle Superhighway 8 will be advised to dismount at the junction of Garratt Lane and Wandsworth High Street and cross over to Ram Street using the existing pedestrian crossings and join CS8 beyond the works site on Ram Street.
