Several trainees, past and present, are currently appearing on-stage in different productions at the Royal Opera House, and there’s still a chance to see them.
Current trainee Andri Björn Róbertsson (bass, 2014) is appearing in two new chamber operas; Elspeth Brooke’s The Commission and Meredith Oakes’ Cafe Kafka. The double-bill is the first of a new annual series, a joint venture by Royal Opera, Aldeburgh Music and Opera North. There are only two performances left in London and both are sold out, but there are other ways to get tickets. There’s also a performance in Leeds later this week.
David Butt Philip (tenor, 2012) and Nico Darmanin (tenor, 2013) are sharing a role in the critically-acclaimed production of Richard Strauss’ Die Frau ohne Schatten. The reviews have been unanimously and overwhelmingly positive, so grab the chance to go and see this blockbuster production while you can.
