| Alex Soddy (repetiteur 2005) will be making his debut guest conducting at the Bayerische Staatsoper Munich and the Berlin Staatsoper unter den Linden conducting Mozart's Die Zauberflote at both opera houses. Alex continues to work at Hamburgische staatsoper, where he will conduct La boheme, Rigoletto, L'elisir d'amore, Lucia de Lammermoor amongst other operas this season. |

| Having recently left the National Opera Studio, soprano Elizabeth Llewellyn will be starring as Mimi in Jonathan Miller's production of La bohème at ENO this autumn. She will sing alongside tenor Gwyn Hughes Jones in Puccini's classic opera. |

| Jean-Paul Pruna has been awarded a place as a repetiteur on the Jette Parker Programme at Covent Garden starting in September 2010. He will be working with the music staff at the Royal Opera House on this scheme. He joins sopranos Anna Devin,Madeleine Pierard and Geoffrey Paterson (repetiteur 2009) who have also been awarded a place on the competitive Programme. |

Gerard Collett has been selected to take part in the Steans Institute Program for Singers this summer, which forms part of the Ravinia Festival, Chicago. The course will be led by Brian Zeger, Executive Director of the Metropolitan Opera Lindemann Young Artists Development Program. |

Current trainee tenor Nicky Spence has been awarded Bruce Millar / Gullivar prize for Opera 2010.
This prestigious accolade was fiercly competed for between six specially selected young singers from around the world in front of a live audience and an esteemed judging panel including head casting director of Scottish Opera, Jenny Slack.

Current trainees tenor John Pierce and baritone Gerard Collett have been awarded a Susan Chilcott Scholarship this year. Awarded annually, the Susan Chilcott Scholarships offer financial support to emerging classical singers both within formal education or in private education, as well as to professional singers wishing to study a specific repertoire or language. John and Gerard are two of six singers awarded scholarships out of the 79 singers that auditioned. |

Valda Wilson (soprano 2009) and Paul O'Neil (tenor 2006) reached the semifinals of Operalia, a prestigious competition founded by Plácido Domingo that receives over 800 applications per year. The semifinals were held at the Pécs National Theatre, Hungary on 27 July 2009. |

Geoffrey Paterson (repetiteur 2008/09) recently won the Leeds Conducting Competition 2009 and won the Audience Prize. As part of the prize, Geoffrey will be conducting many of the country's leading orchestras including London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the BBC Philharmonic.

Congratulations to alumni Anna Stephany (mezzo 2005/06) and Dawid Kimberg (baritone 2007/08), along with Wade Kernot (bass 2008/09), who have all been chosen to represent their native country in the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition. Anna will represent England, Dawid will represent South Africa and Wade will represent New Zealand.
