Brad
Cooper tenor Brad Cooper was born in Sydney and studied under Maree Ryan at the Sydney Conservatorium, Janice Chapmann and Julian Gavin at the National Opera Studio in London and with Marilyn Horne on a fellowship to the Music Academy of the West, California.
The 2007/08 season has seen Brad perform in concert with Anna Netrebko and Ruxandra Donose in Moscow, make his English National Opera debut in Coronation of Poppea, create the role of Clem in Micha Hamel's Snow White and appear in performances of Die Zauberflöte and La Traviata for the Nationale Reisopera in The Netherlands.
In past seasons Brad has appeared as Conte Almaviva in Il Barbiere di Siviglia for London's Opera Holland Park, performed as Tamino in Die Zauberflöte for English Touring Opera, Belmonte in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Don Ramiro in LaCenerentola, Le Chevalier in Dialogues of the Carmelites at the Sydney Conservatorium and Messiah at the Sydney Town Hall. At Easter 2007 Brad joined the English Chamber Orchestra for performances of Bach's St Matthew Passion.
Brad’s performance as Davey in Jonathan Dove’s Siren Song for the 2007 Grachtenfestival in Amsterdam has been released on CD by Chandos Classics to widespread critical acclaim.
The coming season sees Brad perform the role of Aubry in Marschener’s Der Vampyr for Amsterdam’s Grachtenfestival, Emilio in Pedrotti's Tutti in Maschera for the Wexford Festival and make his French debut as Gunther in Wagner's Die Feen for the Théâtre du Châtelet under Marc Minkowski.
Brad makes his German debut as Lindoro in L’Italiana in Algeri for Oper Köln in the 2009/10 season.
