Born
in Hertfordshire she studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music and
Drama where she received a first class honours degree and a distinction
at postgraduate level supported by the 2003 Maidment Scholarship from
the MBF, a Sir Geraint Evans Scholarship and a bursary from the Arts
Council of Wales. She was a prizewinner in the Clonter Opera Prize and
the Tawyn Roberts National Eisteddfod in 2004. She also received the
Erich Vietheer Memorial Award from Glyndebourne and was a recipient
of a Susan Chilcott Scholarship in 2005.
Recent roles include Marzelline (cover) for Glyndebourne Festival Opera,
Musetta for Scottish Opera on Tour and Pamina (cover) for Glyndebourne
in which she made her festival debut in 2005. Roles in college include
the Countess in the world premier of Rochester’s Second Bottle
by Hans Kox, Lusya in Paradise Moscow by Shostakovich, and the First
Witch in Dido and Aeneas. Roles within college scenes include Tatyana,
Fiordiligi, Mrs Ford in The Merry Wives of Windsor, and Greta Fiorentina
in Street Scene by Kurt Weill.
Stephanie's studies at the National Opera Studio are kindly supported
by the Anne Wood/Johanna Peters award from Glyndebourne, the Kathleen
Trust and a John Wates Bursary. While studying at the NOS Stephanie
will continue her singing lessons with her current teacher Rudolf Piernay.
