The
Swedish mezzo-soprano Anna Grevelius studied singing with her mother,
Kerstin Lundin-Grevelius, before taking on a BMus degree at the Guildhall
School of Music and Drama in London, where she was taught by Laura Sarti,
and was awarded the Lord Mayor’s Prize for outstanding studies.
This year Anna is graduating from the Advanced Opera Course at the Benjamin
Britten International Opera School, studying with Lillian Watson, as a
Sir Thomas Allen Scholar.
Her recent operatic roles include Prince Orlovsky in Strauss’ Die
Fledermaus (RCM), Lucretia in Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia (RCM)
and Onoria in Handel’s Ezio (as part of the London Handel Festival).
In 2004 she was a member of the Académie européenne de musique
at the Aix-en-Provence Festival. During her training, Anna has taken part
in master-classes with singers such as Ann-Sofie von Otter, Sir Thomas
Allen and Sarah Connolly. She has won the prestigious Gerald Moore Competition,
and the Cuthbert Smith Prize in the RCM Lies Askonas Competition. Anna
also enjoys chamber music and concert work and has performed in recital
together with Roger Vignoles and sung the alto part in Bruckner’s
Te Deum conducted by Bernard Haitink .
Future operatic engagements include Dorabella in Mozart’s Così
fan tutte (Classical Opera Company).
