Katrine
Reimers was born in Somerset and graduated in 2000 from King’s College,
Cambridge, where she founded the King’s College Musical Society
Chorus. She then continued her studies in Piano Accompaniment at the Guildhall
School of Music and Drama.
Since 2001 Katrine has devoted a large part of her time to education and
community projects, principally as the musical director of the East London-based
community opera company Vision Opera, where she was Musical Director for
four years.
Katrine’s opera experience encompasses conducting, repetiteuring,
chorus coaching and harpsichord continuo, most recently for performances
of Così fan Tutte and Rodelinda with Opera de Baugé in France
this Summer. She has also been employed as a stage director, making her
debut with Hampstead Garden Opera in a production of Alcina in April 2005.
For three years she has been the conductor of two London chamber choirs,
The Bourne Singers and The Lewisham Town Hall Singers, and has worked
as an accompanist and assistant conductor for numerous choral societies
across the south of England.
She also has a great passion for Lieder, participating in Masterclasses
with, among others, Graham Johnson, Malcolm Martineau, Eugene Asti and
Iain Burnside, as well as regularly accompanying singers on the concert
platform.
Katrine is grateful for the support from the Musicians’ Benevolent
Fund, the Solti Foundation, the Friends of Covent Garden and a Nelly Groner
Bursary.
