Benjamin
Segal has recently completed the National Opera studio course (supported
by the Stanley Thomas Johnson Foundation and the Headley Trust) and,
prior to this, a season as a member of The Glyndebourne Festival Chorus.
Operatic
Roles include his Glyndebourne Festival debut as Monostatos/Die
Zauberflöte with Sir Charles Mackerras; Tamino (cover)/The
Magic Flute, Opera North, Alfred/Die Fledermaus, Scottish
Opera; Mr Upfold/Albert Herring, The Husband/Les Mamelles
De Tirésias; Laërte/Mignon; School Master/Comedy
on the Bridge, Snout/A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Benjamin has also recently taken part in workshops for Almeida Opera
on their new commission The Twins by Errollyn Wallen.
Oratorio
highlights include his Edinburgh Festival debut in Serenade for
Music at the Usher Hall, Bach Bminor Mass with Suzuki
in the Aldeburgh festival at The Snape Maltings Concert Hall, The Evangelist
in St John Passion, Missa Solemnis, The Creation,
Requiem (Mozart) and Messiah (Händel)
Benjamin
has given many recitals throughout the UK and abroad including performances
at Wigmore Hall, Royal Opera House Crush Room, St John’s Smith
Square and St James Piccadilly. Recently he gave a world premiere of
a newly commissioned piece by Benjamin Wallfisch at the Cadogan Hall,
Sloane Square.
