Seong baritone

baritone Seung-Wook Seong began his musical training at Yon Sei University
in Seoul where he graduated with a first-class degree, performing in
a Kuk Min newcomer recital as part of the award. In December 2001 he
has won a prestigious entrance scholarship to Royal Academy Opera where
he studied with Mark Wildman and Audrey Hyland. During his time in the
Academy, he took part in many Master-classes with Dennis O'Neill, Robert
Tear and Dame Kiri Te Kanawa.
Seung-Wook
has appeared as a soloist in Handel's Messiah, Dubois' The Seven Last
Words of Christ and Gounod's Messe Solennelle De Sainte Cecile in Korea.
In February 2006, he performed in Gala Concert with Dame Kiri Te Kanawa
and Frederica von Stade in New Zealand and in June 2006, with Dennis
O'Neill in Liverpool.
Seung-Wook's
operatic experiences include Don Alfonso(Così fan tutte), Leporello(Don
Giovanni), Betto(Gianni Schicchi) in Korea and Littore(L'Incoronazione
di Poppea), Haraschta(The Cunning Little Vixen with Sir Charles Mackerras),
Sprecher(Die Zauberflöte with Sir Colin Davis), Pandolfe(Cendrillon)
at the Royal Academy Opera and Yamadori(Madama Butterfly) for Opera
Holland Park.
Seung-Wook
is the recipient of many awards and prizes including the Richard Lewis-Jean
Shanks Award, Ludmila Andrew Russian Song Competition, Blyth-Buesst
Operatic Singing Prize and Opera Rara Bel Canto Prize and the Queen's
Commendation for Excellence from the Royal Academy of Music.
Seung-Wook's
studies at the National Opera Studio were supported by British American
Tobacco.
