Marie-Elise Boyer was born in Roanne, France and started learning the piano at the age of five. Marie-Elise was awarded a First Prize in piano and chamber music at the age of 13 at the Conservatoire de Saint-Etienne, and a First Prize in piano at the Conservatoire National de Région de Paris where she studied with Jean-Marie Cottet. In 2003 she was offered a place in accompaniment with Marie-Cecile Milan at the Conservatoire National de Région de Lyon. She was awarded a First Prize with Distinction in both Accompaniment and Composition in 2007.
In 2007 Marie-Elise was offered a place on the Accompaniment Course at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London where she was awarded a Master of Music with Distinction. She has taken part in Master Classes led by Graham Johnson, Robin Bowman and members of the Belcea Quartett. The year following she took up a place on the school’s Repetiteur course studying with Martin Roscoe. She is currently training as a repetiteur at the National Opera Studio in London.
As a repetiteur she has worked for BYO on the 2008 production of La Rondine by Puccini, conducted by Peter Robinson. At the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, she has worked as a repetiteur and played the harpsichord and piano for La Rencontre Imprévue by Gluck, conducted by Nicholas Kok, The Marriage by Martinu, conducted by Clive Timms and La Voix Humaine by Poulenc. Marie-Elise was mentioned in Opera Magazine (August 2009) as "a very nifty piano continuo" (Peter Reed) for her participation in the performances of "The Marriage" by Martinu (GSMD). Marie-Elise works regularly as a repetiteur for the co-opera.co run by Kate Flowers and Paul Need and was employed as a staff accompanist on the 2009 Summer School for Singers in Abingdon (Oxfordshire).
Passionate about song repertoire, she has formed two vocal duets with Johanne Cassar (soprano) and Eva Ganizate (soprano). She and Cassar performed a French and Italian songs recital in The Festival “Les Chants de la Dore” (France) in 2009. With Ganizate she took part in the Académie Francis Poulenc in Tours (France) working with François Leroux, Noel Lee and Jeff Cohen in August 2009. They were finalists in the International Song Competition “Nadia et Lili Boulanger” (Paris, November 2009) and have been laureate of the International Competition “Les CIM de Val-d’Isère” (France, July 2009). In 2006 she played in the Festival Georges Cziffra in Saint-Etienne with Rémi Garin (tenor) and in 2002 she played the Piano Concerto in A minor by Grieg with the Orchestra of the Conservatoire National de Région de Montpellier.
Future engagements include a Spanish and Argentine songs recital with Johanne Cassar in the festival “Les Chants de la Dore” (July 2010), a Russian, German, English and French songs recital with Jean-Baptiste Mouret in Albas, France and in Bayreuth (August 2010).
