Cameron Burns repetiteur

Cameron Burns was both an Academic and Organ Scholar at New College, Oxford where he graduated in 2004 with a starred-first in piano performance. He studied with Mirella Freni and her pianist Paola Molinari at the Centro Universale di Bel Canto in Modena, Italy and more recently at the National Opera Studio in London. He was also a coach and repetiteur at Cardiff International Academy for Voice where he accompanied classes primarily with Dennis O’Neill but also with Nuccia Foccile, Susan Bullock, John Fisher and Della Jones. In addition he has played for classes with Dame Kiri Te Kanawa at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and he is a graduate of the Solti-Te Kanawa Accademia di Bel Canto in Italy, where he participated on a course specifically for repetiteurs and conductors, working with Jonathan Papp, Audrey Hyland, Pamela Bullock and David Syrus.

Cameron works primarily in the field of opera as a repetiteur, coach and conductor. Credits include L’Elisir d’amore (WNO); Thomas Adés’ Powder her Face (ROH and Mariinsky Theatre, St. Petersburg); Don Giovanni (Aldeburgh Music); Salome (ROH) The Rake’s Progress (British Youth Opera); Cimarosa’s Il Matrimonio Segreto (Barga Opera, Italy); La Boheme (Oxford City Opera) and Curlew River (Mahogany Opera).

He is an alumnus of the Britten-Pears Young Artist Programme where he has played for masterclasses with Sherill Milnes, Dame Anne Evans, Michael Chance, Laura Sarti and Claudio Desdire and where he has also worked with Oliver Knussen, Magnus Lindburg, Colin Matthews, Richard Egarr and Harry Bickett

Since January 2010 he has been a conducting scholar with the London Symphony Chorus working closely with Chorus Master Joseph Cullen as well as Sir Colin Davis, Valery Gergiev and James Macmillan.

In August 2010 he takes up a trainee repetiteur position with English National Opera where he will be on the music staff for new productions of Gounod’s Faust, Don Giovanni and the UK premiere of Rashatov’s A Dog’s Heart.
