Nicholas Lester baritone
Australian born Nicholas Lester studied at the Adelaide Conservatorium of Music and is now resident in London where he studies with Raymond Connell and Russell Smythe.
On the concert platform Nicholas Lester has performed the Messiah, Elijah, Bach Cantatas and Rameau Motets.
His roles have included Aeneas Dido and Aeneas (Adelaide Festival), Speaker The Magic Flute and Paris Roméo et Juliette (British Youth Opera), Pasha Selim The Seraglio and The Kagler Wiener Blut (English Touring Opera), Leporello Don Giovanni Jerwood Scenes (Glyndebourne Festival Opera), Antonio The Marriage of Figaro, and Theseus A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Co-Opera, Australia), Fiorello & Ufficiale Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Flora’s servant La Traviata (Opera Holland Park).
Other roles include Marcello La bohème, Onegin Eugene Onegin, Belcore L’elisir d’amore, Pietro Simon Boccanegra, Don Alfonso Cosi fan tutte, Devilshoof The Bohemian Girl, St Brioche The Merry Widow, The Notary Don Pasquale, 2. Gefangener Fidelio, Miguel Betrothal in a Monastery, Colonel Calverly Patience, Pirate King The Pirates of Penzance, Sir Joseph Porter HMS Pinafore.
Recent engagements include performances of the Brahms Requiem in Beijing.
Nicholas Lester commences at the National Opera Studio in September 2008 where his studies will be supported by Glyndebourne Festival Opera as the recipient of the Anne Woods/Johanna Peters Award. He is a recipient of the Simon Fletcher Charitable Trust award and gratefully acknowledges the generous support of Christopher Ball.
