Frank
Church Baritone
Frank was born in Liverpool, where he worked as a Civil Servant before moving to Glasgow to study at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, where he graduated with a B.Mus (Hons). He then studied at the Alexander Gibson Opera School with Peter Alexander Wilson and Jeffrey Lawton. His operatic appearances include Baron Douphol, La traviata; Angelotti, Tosca; Benoit, La bohème; Starveling, A Midsummer Night's Dream; Sid, Albert Herring; Pacuvio, La Pietra del Paragone; Guglielmo, Così fan tutte; and Sharpless, Madama Butterfly. On the concert platform, he has performed throughout Scotland, the North of England, and the South of France in works such as Coronation Ode (Elgar), Elijah (Mendelssohn), Messiah (Handel), Five Negro Spirituals (Tippett) and Fauré's Reqiuem. He has appeared in masterclasses with Benjamin Luxon, Roger Vignoles and John Streets and has studied Mozart and Britten roles with Sir Thomas Allen at the Britten-Pears School in Aldeburgh. He has also appeared on BBC Television in a masterclass with David Pountney. In November 1999, he won the Verdi Prize at the National Mozart Competition, and last year won Scottish Opera's John Noble Competition. Frank completed the 2000/2001 course at the National Opera Studio supported by Scottish Opera and the Nicholas John Memorial Trust. |
