  Charlotte Ellett Soprano
Born in South Wales, Charlotte started her vocal tuition at the Junior Royal Academy of Music. From there she moved on to the Royal Northern College of Music, graduating in 2000. She recently completed the 2001/2002 course at the National Opera Studio, supported by the Wood/Peters Award in association with Glyndebourne, The Peter Moores Foundation, The Sybil Tutton Charitable Trust and a Countess of Munster Award.

Her operatic roles include: Barbarina, Le nozze di Figaro, and Miss Wordsworth, Albert Herring, at the RNCM; Despina, Così fan tutte, for the Aix-en-Provence Musique Festival and for Pimlico Opera; Isobel and Mabel, The Pirates of Penzance, for the Carl Rosa Opera Company; Micaela, Carmen, for Phoenix Opera; Pamina, Die Zauberflöte, for the RNCM; First Bridesmaid, Le nozze di Figaro, and the cover of Karolka, Jenufa, for Glyndebourne Festival Opera, and the cover of Zerlina, Don Giovanni, for Glyndebourne Touring Opera.

Charlotte regularly performs oratorio, including such works as Pergolesi's Magnificat and Stabat Mater; Bach's Magnificat, and Cantatas 51 & 151; Vivaldi's Gloria; Handel's Messiah, Samson and Utrecht Te Deum; Mozart's Requiem, Coronation Mass, Exultate Jubilate and Mass in C Minor; Haydn's Nelson Mass, The Creation and Mass in B flat; and Dvorak's Te Deum.

She was a soloist with the Halle Orchestra in the world premiere of the original version of Mahler's Das Klagende Lied, conducted by Kent Nagano at the Bridgewater Hall, which was subsequently released on CD. Charlotte returned to the Bridgewater Hall to sing the Mozart Requiem, which she later repeated at the Royal Festival Hall.

Charlotte has been successful in many competitions, winning the Gwilym Gwalchmai Prize and the Frost Brownson Award for Singing. In 1998 she won the Anne Ziegler Award in the Webster Booth and Anne Ziegler Competition, and, more recently, the Alexander Young Award. She has taken part in masterclasses with Benjamin Luxon, Elizabeth Gale, Anne Howells, Ryland Davies, Martin Isepp and Carlo Rizzi.

Forthcoming engagements include Bach's Christmas Oratorio and B Minor Mass. In 2002, Charlotte will perform the role of Frasquita, Carmen, for Glyndebourne Touring Opera.
