Freston Soprano
Born in London,
Amy trained as a classical dancer before going to the RNCM where she studied
with Sandra Dugdale. She is currently at the National Opera Studio (2003/4)
sponsored by Glyndebourne and was winner of the prestigious Joahninha
Trust Award in 2003.
Recent
engagements include Bridesmaid/Le Nozze di Figaro (Glyndebourne Festival
Opera); the title role in Acis and Galatea (New Kent Opera); Suor Genoveva/Suor
Angelica (Opera Holland Park); soprano soloist The Golden Ass (Globe Theatre).
Recent
concert performances include Messiah (Manchester Camerata & Sheffield
Bach Choir); Mozart’s C minor mass (Pershore Abbey); Bach’s
Cantatas Nos 202, 84 and 199 and a Harrison Birtwistle song cycle (Plush
Festival 2002 & 2003 broadcast on Radio 3); Carmina Burana (CBSO at
the Birmingham Symphony Hall); Handel’s Samson (Manchester Camerata).
Future engagements include soprano soloist in a new music theatre piece,
‘The passion of IO’, by Sir Harrison Birtwistle (Aldeburgh
and Almeida Contemporary Music Festivals); Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro
(GTO 2005); Il re pastore (New Kent Opera); Handel’s Dixit Dominus
and Vivaldi’s cantata Nulla in mundo pax sincera (Chapel House Choir,
York Minster).
