Oliver Gooch Repetiteur
British born conductor, Oliver Gooch, has recently completed two years as Assistant Conductor on the Young Artists Programme at the Royal Opera House, a post created specially for him. There he made his debut with the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House on the main stage in 2006. During his time at the ROH, he acted as Assistant Conductor and Music Staff for much of the canon including Peter Grimes, Werther, La Rondine, Madama Butterfly, Turandot, La Boheme, Macbeth, Bartered Bride, La Traviata, Il re pastore, Tosca, Bluebeard's Castle/Ewartung, L'heure espagnol/Gianni Schicchi, Il Trovatore. He has also assisted for the Royal Ballet, most recently on The Rite of Spring.

As founding Artistic Director of Opera East Productions, he has seen the company grow to what the press observed - "an opera company deserving national significance". Alongside OEP's regular touring work, it has made various commissions including Heart of Darkness (Tarik O'Regan) in collaboration with American Opera Project/Opera Genesis and Children of Fire in collaboration with Darwin 200/Natural History Museum.

As Musical Director of Iford Festival Opera, he has conducted Lucia di Lammermoor, Rusalka and The Rake's Progress and future plans with them include A Midsummer Night's Dream in 2009. Other recent work includes Die Zauberflote (Glyndebourne Festival), Le nozze di Figaro (Glyndebourne on Tour), The Rake's Progress (OEP). L'elisir d'amore (Stanley Hall Opera), Maskarade (GSMD), The Bear (Edinburgh), The Little Sweep (Jubilee Hall, Aldeburgh)

He was educated at Magdalene College, Cambridge and subsequently trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the National Opera Studio. Oliver studied conducting at the Tanglewood Festival under Robert Spano and Seiji Ozawa, and was subsequently nominated for the prestigious Rolex/Mentor Protégé Arts Initiative in Geneva, under Sir Colin Davis. As Principal Conductor of the Pepys Ensemble he has recently performed Bach cantatas with Emma Kirkby.

Forthcoming engagements include Albert Herring (Glyndebourne on Tour), Mahler's Fourth Symphony (Philharmonia Orchestra), performances of Samuel Arnold's Inkle and Yarico to celebrate the abolition of slavery, and collaborations with Opera Genesis at the Royal Opera House.

Oliver is currently a Clore Fellow, a one year progamme designed to nurture a new generation of cultural leaders.
