Lorina
Gore soprano
Lorina was
born in Australia and completed postgraduate voice studies at the Australian
National University in Canberra. She has won several prestigious opera
awards, including the Robert & Betty Saltzer Prize (Opera Foundation
Australia 2004), 2nd prize in the Herald Sun Aria (2002 and 2004), the
Lady Galleghan Scholarship for Voice, the Frank and Viola Tait Scholarship,
the Phoebe Patrick Award, and first place in the Australian National Aria
Competition. As winner of the Opera Foundation's Covent Garden Scholarship,
Lorina attended the National Opera Studio in 2003/04, and is now working
with Gerald Moore.
Alongside regular performances in concert and oratorio,
Lorina's operatic roles include Susanna Le Nozze di Figaro,
Belinda Dido & Aeneas, and also Queen of the Night, Pamina
and Papagena Die Zauberflöte. In 2005 Lorina performed
Giulia La Scala di Seta for Independent Opera, and Fiakermilli
Arabella for Garsington Opera. Recent performances have included
the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor for Iford Arts, and an
extensive national tour of New Zealand singing Norina Don Pasquale
for New Zealand Opera. In 2007 she will perform Blonde Die Entführung
aus dem Serail and Sandrina L'infedeltà delusa
for English Touring Opera, and will also start work as a full time principal
artist with Opera Australia.
