Martene Grimson (Australian) began her studies
at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music under Brenda Holleman and Graduated
with a BMus (Hons) in 2000. Martene was selected as a Finalist in the
Australian Singing Competition 2000 Mathy awards. Her prize from this
competition was a Laura Ashley scholarship at the Royal College of Music
in London to undertake a Graduate Diploma course, completed in 2002. Martene
went on to complete the Diploma of Advanced Opera at the Benjamin Britten
Opera School, Royal College of Music in 2004.
Her National Opera Studio studies were supported
by the Royal Opera House, Countess of Munster Musical Scholarship, Tait
Memorial Trust and The Madeline Finden Memorial Discretionary Award.
In 2004, Martene was awarded the Maggie Teyte prize and Miriam Licettte
Scholarship and was selected as a finalist for the Kathleen Ferrier
Awards. Other awards include a Wingate Scholarship and Australian Music
Foundation Award.
Martene has given recitals in the Lindbury Studio ROH, Fairfield Hall
Croydon, Bognor Regis Music Club and for the Harrogate Festival. She
made her Wigmore Hall debut as part of the Tillett Trust Young Artist
Platform in December 2003. She has also performed in the Barbican Hall
with the Classical Opera Company and this concert will be repeated in
July 2005.
Engagements include the role of Sesto (La Clemenza
di Tito – Gluck)in May 2005 for Classical Opera Company,
and a recital at St John Smith Square in July 2005.

include: the role of Mary in Handel's Brockes Passion, Papagena
in Mozart’s Die Zauberflote and Blanche in Dialogues
des Carmélites for the BBIOS, Helena in A Midsummer
Night’s Dream (Britten) for BYO, Nemea in Si j’etais
roi (Adam) for Opera Omnibus and Arbate in Mitridate –
Il re di Ponto (Mozart) for the Classical Opera Company.
