Hulcup Mezzo Soprano
Caitlin initially studied as a violinist, winning a six-month scholarship with her string quartet to the Banff Center for the Arts. She played viola in the West Australian Symphony Orchestra for two years, while also a member of the West Australian Opera Chorus. Caitlin was selected as a Young Artist with the W.A. Opera in 2000 and performed the roles of Kate Pinkerton and Cherubino with the company. At the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, Caitlin continued vocal studies, winning several lieder and aria competitions. In 2001, she sang with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in Mozart's Credo Mass, and with the Tasmanian and Sydney Symphony Orchestra, performing Strauss Lieder as the winner of the vocal section of the ABC Young Performer's Awards, broadcast on national radio and television. Caitlin represented Australia at the 2002 Belevedere Singing Competition. She is the winner of the Opera Foundation Australia's Covent Garden National Opera Studio Scholarship for 2002. She is at Vienna State Opera from January 2004 for four months as the winner of Opera Foundation Australia's Award.
