Rebecca
von Lipinski soprano
Rebecca von
Lipinski, born in 1976 and educated in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, has
French, Polish and German ancestry. In 1996 she was awarded the John Ogden
Scholarship and entered the Royal Northern College of Music to study with
Caroline Crawshaw.
At
the RNCM, she has sung in the choruses of La bohème and
Le nozze di Figaro and appeared in many excerpts, including: Countess,
Le nozze di Figaro; Octavian, Der Rosenkavalier; Laetitia,
The Old Maid and the Thief; Clorinda, La Cenerentola; Leonore,
Fidelio; Marenka, The Bartered Bride; and Agathe, Der
Freischütz.
In
March 2001, Rebecca sang the role of Alice Ford in the RNCM production
of Verdi's Falstaff, and covered the role of Helena in Sir Peter
Hall's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream for Glyndebourne
Festival Opera, whilst singing in the chorus. In 2002, as well as again
singing in the chorus, she sang the role of Bertha, Euryanthe,
conducted by Mark Elder.
Rebecca
won the Joyce and Michael Kennedy Prize for the singing of Strauss in
2001, the Clonter Opera and Audience Prize 2002, the Joaninha Award 2002,
and the Elizabeth Harwood Memorial Award 2002. She has recently completed
her studies on the 2002/03 course at the National Opera Studio supported
by the Anne Wood/Johanna Peters Award from Glyndebourne and the Peter
Moores Foundation.
