Claire Ormshaw soprano

Born in Lancashire, Claire initially studied with Lesley Thompson, then at the Royal Northern College of Music with Honor Sheppard, where her postgraduate studies were supported by the Peter Moores Foundation.

Claire joined the Glyndebourne Chorus in 2002 and also made her debut singing Emmie, Albert Herring (GTO, GFO). Operatic roles include Papagena, Die Zauberflöte (Buxton), Despina, Così fan tutte, The Fire, L'Enfant et les sortilèges (RNCM); Barbarina, The Marriage of Figaro (ENO); Zerlina, Don Giovanni, Nannetta, Falstaff, Ines, Il trovatore (Stowe Opera).

Oratorio work includes Handel's Messiah, Dixit Dominus, Judas Maccabaeus and Carmina Burana.

Future engagements include Barbarina and cover of Susanna in 2003 and Papagena in 2004 (both for GFO), Norina (Mananan Festival) and Dalinda, Ariodante (ETO).

Claire's NOS studies in 2002/03 were supported by ENO, the Sybil Tutton Charitable Trust, and the Countess of Munster Trust.
