Born in London,
Kate studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Rudolf Piernay.
Awards include a Boise Foundation scholarship, Bruce Millar Award, Countess
of Munster Trust Award, Sybil Tutton Award and Clonter Prize 2002. Kate
attended the Ravinia Festival Young Artists programme in 2002. She won
the 2004 Kathleen Ferrier competition.
Concert
performances include her Wigmore Hall debut in March 2003 with Eugene
Asti, her proms debut in 2000 with Tavener’s Samaveda,
and Mozart Requiem at the Royal Albert Hall with the London
Festival Orchestra. She recently recorded a recital of Brahms and Duparc
for Radio 3’s ‘Voices’ programme. Roles include Cephise Pygmalion (Early Opera Company), Vittoria Orfeo, St.
John’s Smith Square, the title role in Handel’s Susanna
at GSMD and 1st Cretian Woman Idomeneo at Glyndebourne Festival, understudy Ilia for Glyndebourne Touring Opera, Woglinde Das Rheingold at the BBC Proms
2004 with Sir Simon Rattle, Iris Semele for Scottish Opera,
Mahler IV with the Manchester Camerata, Pamina understudy for GFO 2004,
Erste Dame Die Zauberflöte GFO 2005, La Contessa Le
Nozze di Figaro GTO 2005 and Helena Midsummer Night’s
Dream GFO 2006.Her studies at the
National Opera Studio were supported by the Royal Opera.
