Christopher Steele Tenor
Born in England and educated in Australia, where he was a member of Opera Australia and the Victoria State Opera, Christopher studied at London Royal School’s Opera Course and at the National Opera Studio sponsored by English National Opera and the Bowerman Musical Trust.

At college, his roles included: Tom The Rake’s Progress and Belfiore Die Gärtnerin aus Liebe, Florville Signor Bruschino and Ottavio Don Giovanni conducted by Sir Colin Davis and directed by John Copley.

Christopher regularly performs the standard oratorio repertoire. Highlights have been Britten’s St Nicolas, Bach’s St John Passion with Peter Schreier, Haydn’s Nelson Mass with Sir David Willcocks and Dies Natalis with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra.

Other engagements have included Beppe I Pagliacci for Cadogan Opera Holland Park, Brighella Ariadne with the Young Artists Progamme at ROH, cover Soldier/Friend The Coronation of Poppea for ENO, cover Almaviva for WNO, Almaviva in The Barber of Seville for Clonter Opera, Hyllus in Handel’s Hercules for Haddo House Opera, Handel’s Alceste for English Bach Festival Opera, Ramiro La Cenerentola for Mid Wales Opera, On Wenlock Edge for the International Vaughan Williams Conference and Male Chorus in British Youth Opera’s acclaimed production of The Rape of Lucretia.

Current season/future plans: Lensky and Almaviva for Opéra Nomade, Prologue/Quint The Turn of the Screw for ETO and for Opera Theatre Company (Dublin), Brighella Ariadne auf Naxos for WNO.
