Sarah
was born in Melbourne, Australia, and holds a Bachelor of Music
and a Graduate Diploma in Opera Performance from the Queensland
Conservatorium of Music, Griffith University, where she studied
with Professor Janet Delpratt.
Involved
in many Conservatorium productions, Sarah has sung principal roles
in Rousell's Le testament de la Tante Caroline, Noemie; Mozart's
Le nozze di Figaro, Countess; Ibert's Orpheus in the Underworld,
Venus; and, most recently, the role of Bernadette in the Australian
premiere of Andrew Schultz's new opera Going into Shadows,
in collaboration with the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Sarah
has been a chorus member of Opera Queensland since 1999 and was
a Developing Artist in 2001.
The
recipient of the Elizabeth Muir Post-Graduate Scholarship, the Brisbane
Club Award, the Sir Mostyn Hanger Opera Scholarship (1999 and 2000)
and the Horace Keats Prize, Sarah was awarded the Covent Garden
National Opera Studio Scholarship 2001 by Opera Foundation Australia
which brought her to London.
