Eleni
Voudouraki mezzo
Born
in Greece, Eleni studied with the tenor Giorgos Zervanos, and was awarded
the Diploma in Classical Solo Singing with ‘Distinction and A’
Prize.
She has
participated in seminars in Bach Cantatas (BWV 97, BWV 92,
BWV 45), Messe h-moll and Matthaus Passion in The
Athens Concert Hall, in co-operation with the Internationale Bachakademie
Stuttgart, her teachers being Annette Markert, and Ingeborg Danz, under
the conduction of Helmuth Rilling. She has won a scholarship to study
in the Bach Academy of Stuttgart twice. She has also appeared as Cornelia
in Julius Caesar by Handel under the direction of Robert Carson,
in co-operation with the British council and the Greek National Opera.
She has
also participated in masterclasses with the late Ghena Dimitrova in
Athens, Robert Lloyd in London and Dame Kiri Te Kanawa in Tuscany (as
a student in the Georg Solti Accademia di Bel Canto).
Her concert
performances include F.Mendellson’s Midsummer Night’s
Dream with the Greek National Orchestra conducted by Lucas Karitinos
in the Athens Concert Hall, W.A. Mozart’s Requiem and
G. Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater with the Athens Chamber Opera
and several Greek Operetta Galas with the Mandolin Orchestra by P. Barbatis
in Cephallonia Summer Festivals and other places all over Greece.
Her operatic
credits include A.Zemlinsky’s Der Zwerg (Dritte Zofe)
with the National Radio Orchestra of Prague in the Athens Concert Hall,
G.Verdi’s Don Carlo (Tebaldo) with the Greek National
Opera, C.Monteverdi’s The Return of Ulisse in patria ( Umana fragilita – Ericlea ) in the Opera Festival in Ancient
Corinth , Bellini’s Norma (Clotilde) with the Greek National
Opera; P. Carrer’s Marathon - Salamis (schiava) with
the Greek National Opera, Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tsar’s
Bride (maidservant) with the Greek National Opera; R. Strauss’s Frau ohne Schatten (maid) with the Athens Concert Hall; J.
Offenbach’s The Magic Flute (Mme Robin) with the Athens
Chamber Opera in Chios Island, Greece) and Vangelis Papathanassiou’s Mythodia (understudy of Ms. Jessye Norman) at theTemple of
the Olympian Zeus, Athens. She was also covering the main role of Carmen
for the Greek National Opera in the Athens Festival 2007 in the Odeon
Of Herodius Atticus.
She recently made her debut with Glyndebourne Opera on Tour as Angelina
(La Cenerentola) conducted by Edward Gardner.
