The First Round for the new intake of 2021 will be by video selection and the application fee is reduced to £25. The Second and Final Round auditions will take place at the National Opera Studio over a five day period - Thursday 22 April to Sunday 25 April 2021. Invited candidates will have an intensive and in-depth audition process which will include a stagecraft workshop, individual coaching workshops with the NOS music team, and an interview, culminating in a final concert audition to representatives of our partner companies. This will be filmed, with individual clips of the audition made available to all auditionees afterwards. A further fee of £75 will be required to cover all aspects of the Second and Final audition process.* It is important to note that aside from the final two audition days with our partner companies, flexibility can be offered to Final Round candidates around the workshops and interview. Activity over the five day period will be scheduled according to your location and travel arrangements. If you have any questions about this process, please head to our FAQs section or do not hesitate to contact us - [email protected]. About our programmes Working closely with our partner opera companies, we take the utmost care to select up to 12 singers and four repetiteurs with the greatest potential and provide them with a nine-month programme that includes, at its heart, exposure to a great range the skills needed to be an opera singer working at the highest level. There is no upper age limit for applying to the NOS. However, applicants are reminded that the Young Artists' Programme is very intensive and is intended to benefit extremely gifted singers and repetiteurs who are at the beginning of their professional operatic careers. We accept applications from singers and repetiteurs from around the world. Our training is completely free, and we welcome applicants from all backgrounds. *While at the present time we hope to hold live Second and Final Round auditions, this will depend on government guidance at the time and we may have to make alternative arrangements. Please keep a close eye on our website for updates and be aware of changing circumstances in London and the UK.
