We’re delighted to announce Lucy Bradley as our first Resident Director at the National Opera Studio.

In this exciting new role, Lucy will oversee the dramatic and stagecraft development of our new cohort of Young Artists, who begin their training on 16 September.

This position marks an important expansion of our offerings, reinforcing our commitment to providing a well-rounded opera training. With her wealth of experience, Lucy will play a crucial role in preparing our Young Artists for the demands of the professional opera world.

While our Young Artists already benefit from working with directors during residencies at our partner companies, Lucy’s appointment means they’ll receive even more focused training before rehearsals begin. She’ll be working closely with the NOS Artistic team, leading a recitative project this autumn and assessing individual stagecraft skills throughout the 2024/25 Young Artists’ Programme.

We’re looking forward to see the impact Lucy will have as she guides the next generation of opera talent.

“I am delighted to be joining the NOS team as Resident Director to embed varied approaches to performance making, acting and stagecraft into the Young Artists’ Programme. I look forward to working individually with this year's Young Artists, offering them regular and individually focused support as they develop their performance practice.”
