Welsh pianist Aeron Preston started learning piano at the age of five. Whilst still at school, he won prizes for solo piano playing at the Urdd National Eisteddfod and the National Eisteddfod of Wales, picking up the Instrumental Blue Riband twice, and the Accompanying Prize four times. He read Music at St John’s College, Cambridge, and graduated in 2010 with a 2.i.
He trained as a secondary school music teacher at Bangor University and has taught music at Wells Cathedral School, Builth Wells High School, and Newtown High School. He has also worked extensively as an accompanist, working with choral societies such as Aberystwyth University Choral Union, Ludlow Choral Society, the Montgomery County Music Festival, and Kington Choral Society. He has also accompanied for Mid Wales Opera, including playing organ for their production of Tosca in spring 2019. In the summer of 2018, he gained his Associateship of the Royal College of Organists. Aeron has just completed the PGDip course as a Répétiteur at the Wales International Academy of Voice in Cardiff. During this course, he worked in rehearsals for the joint production of The Marriage of Figaro with WIAV and Mid Wales Opera.
