British mezzo-soprano Bethan Langford is a recent graduate of the GSMD Opera course, where she was the recipient the Paul Hamburger Award for Lieder, the Violette Szabo Award for English Song and the Susan Longfield prize for Accomplished Female Singer. Bethan is a Samling Artist, a Concordia Artist, a Les Azuriales Young Artist and an alumna of the Verbier Festival Academy. Recent operatic engagements include Dorabella Cosi fan tutte (Bury Court Opera), Noble Orphan Der Rosenkavalier and Lehrbuben Die Meistersinger (Glyndebourne Festival Opera), Angel 2/Marie Written on Skin (Melos Sinfonia at the Mariinsky Theatre), Dritte Magt Elektra (Verbier Festival, cond. Esa-Pekka Salonen), Nancy Albert Herring (Mid Wales Opera Young Artist), Lucretia The Rape of Lucretia (Guildhall Opera), cover Proserpina Orfeo (Royal Opera at the Roundhouse), Prince Orlofsky Die Fledermaus (Clonter Opera) and Olga Eugene Onegin (Cambridge Philharmonic). Recital and concert work includes a ‘Schubert and women’s voices’ recital (Wigmore Hall), her debut recital for the Aldeburgh Festival, Messiah (Orquesta Ciudad de Granada) and various concerts for the Oxford Lieder Festival, Ludlow English Song Weekend and the New Paths Festival. Future engagements include recitals at the Heidelberger Frühling Festival, Wigmore Hall (as part of their afternoon recital series) and the Internationaal Lied Festival Zeist.
