Maria’s time at the Studio is generously supported by the Nicholas John Trust
Moldovan pianist Maria Tataru has just completed the Opera Répétiteur Fellowship with the Royal Academy of Music. In 2019, she undertook a répétiteur placement at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama as part of the European Opera Academy.
Opera credits during this time include Die Zauberflöte and Albert Herring as well as numerous excerpts in Opera Scenes productions.
She studied at the attained her Bachelors’ and Masters’ degrees from the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp, following studies in Piano Performance at the Academy of Music Theatre and Fine Arts in Chisinau in her native Moldova.
From a very young age, Maria has taken part in international music competitions and concerts across Europe as a piano soloist, accompanist and in chamber music ensembles. The many prizes she won include Grand Prix and First Prize (Piano solo) at Vocal-Instrumental competition Viva la Musica, Romania; First Prize (piano solo)- International Music Competition, Serbia; First Prize (piano solo) - Zlata Tkaci Music Competition, Moldova; First Prize (piano solo) - Clapele Fermecate Music Competition, Moldova.
Besides competitions and concerts, Maria has taken part in many masterclasses with world-renowned musicians as Roger Vignoles, Richard Goode, Misha Namirovsky, Stanislav Igolinski, Sergei Covalenco, Alexandr Palei, Vasily Lobanov, Murad Adigezalzade, Olga Iuhno and Sergei Edelmann.
