Neil’s time at the Studio is supported by a Strategic Grant from Arts Council England
Indian-Scottish bass-baritone Neil Balfour graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music with Masters’ distinction and was a 2019 Concordia Artist.
Upcoming performances include Guglielmo Così fan tutte for Mananan Opera (Isle of Man), La fanciulla del West for Opera North and song recitals for &Piano Festival and MadewithMusic. Recent performances include Colline La bohème for Mananan Opera & OFMAN Opera Studio (Madrid), Mercurio La Calisto for Longborough Festival Opera, the nationwide tour of Aida with the Chorus of Opera North, Porgy and Bess at Leeds Town Hall and soloist for the Dore Male Voice Choir during a concert tour of Sicily.
Contemporary works have included premiering the roles of La-La (role sponsored by the Opera Awards) in A Shoe Full of Stars (YAM Awards Best Opera 2018) by Omar Shahryar, Nikolaus’ Father Mysterious 44 by Kevin Malone and Best Man Cheese! by Lucy Armstrong, premiered at the Bridgewater Hall.
Neil is a portfolio artist, working in many different genres and areas, include being the creator of artsongstory.com, voiceover work for YouTube channels with views on his videos reaching well over 100 million, premiering the first electronic opera, conducting 300+ mass choirs and performing a private show for Her Majesty The Queen.
