We are welcoming back our alums to the Studio for a series of free recitals. This is an opportunity for them to try out new programmes, repertoire, or even styles – and for our audiences to follow their journeys since leaving the Studio.

Andrew Henley

British-Irish tenor Andrew Henley studied at the RWCMD and the National Opera Studio. He is the winner of the 2025 Pendine International Voice of the Future Award at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod, the 2019 Dunraven Young Welsh Singer of the Year and the 2023 John Scott Award from Scottish Opera. Operatic engagements have included Camille Die Lustige Witwe with the Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater, The Tenor Trauernacht, Tybalt Romeo und Juliet and Voleur de Lune Der Mond with Opéra de Lyon, Heinrich der Schreiber Tannhäuser with the Stadttheater Klagenfurt, The Son The Critic and Rodolfo in Puccini: Man of the Theatre with Wexford Festival Opera, Tybalt Roméo et Juliette with the Immling Festival, Father Grenville Dead Man Walking and Candide (cover) Candide with Welsh National Opera, Tenor Soloist on the Opera Highlights Tour and Nemorino (cover) L’elisir d’amore with Scottish Opera, Don Ottavio Don Giovanni (cover) with Glyndebourne Autumn, Barigoule Cendrillon with Buxton International Festival and Don Ottavio Don Giovanni with Clonter Opera. Concert engagements have included Handel Messiah at the Royal Festival Hall, Mendelssohn Elijah  at Cadogan Hall, Mozart Mass in C Minor at Wells Cathedral, Purcell The Fairy Queen with the CBSO at Birmingham Symphony Hall.

Ella O’Neill

 Ella O’Neill is increasingly in demand across the UK and Europe as a collaborative pianist specialising in song. She was the 2024 winner of the biennial Royal Philharmonic Society Gerald Moore Award for outstanding piano accompanists, as well as the Accompanist’s Prize in the 2019 Kathleen Ferrier Awards. Recital venues for Ella have included the Zankel and Weill Recital Halls at Carnegie Hall as a SongStudio artist, Wigmore Hall, Snape Maltings Concert Hall, Cadogan Hall, the Royal Opera House Crush Room, Opera Holland Park, LIFE Victoria de los Ángeles Barcelona, Heidelberger Frühling, Oxford International Song, Leeds Lieder and Brighton Festival. Ella also regularly performs live on BBC Radio 3 InTune. Last year saw the release of Ella’s debut album – Awakenings – with duo partner Laurence Kilsby, co-produced by Deutsche Grammophon, Avi Music and SWR Kultur. Ella is a Samling artist and works regularly as a staff pianist for Samling Institute for Young Artists, as well as Oxenfoord International Summer School and the Royal College of Music. Ella completed her master’s degree at the RCM and her undergraduate degree at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where she returns as a visiting song coach this autumn.
