Richard obtained a degree in History and Philosophy of Science at Cambridge in 1974. After working for a short while as a Civil Servant, Richard spent 20 years looking after his three children. In 1997, he returned to work in financial administration in a number of different settings, largely for small organisations in the voluntary, charitable, creative and arts sectors. Richard was brought on as Finance Officer and Book-keeper at the National Opera Studio in August 2011, becoming Finance Manager in 2013. In 2016, Richard became Finance and Operations Manager for the Studio, with added responsibilities for maintaining The Clore Building and managing contracts. In addition to music and opera, Richard's interests include being active in politics, watching football (Millwall F.C.), and learning German.
