We are delighted to announce our opera scenes performances for the 2024/25 training year.
From Baroque classics to modern-day masterpieces, our fantastic Young Artists will take the stage across the UK, collaborating with renowned opera directors and our esteemed partner companies to deliver exceptional performances.
Each project offers our Young Artists new and invaluable skills, preparing them for life on an international operatic stage. We look forward to you joining us to witness their journey with us across this year.
Shakespeare Revisited
3 & 4 December 2024

Contemporary opera scenes, directed by Keith Warner, that tell tales of unrequited love, “a madness most discreet,” alongside the complexities of jealousy captured in “the green-eyed monster.” In bringing these stories of desire and conflict to life, these contemporary opera scenes celebrate Shakespeare’s enduring legacy, highlighting that “all the world’s a stage” and the struggles of the human heart remain ever unchanged.

Sinfonia Smith Square
Our Young Artists present an extraordinary showcase, featuring scenes from our residencies with the Welsh National Opera and Scottish Opera, in a special performance at Sinfonia Smith Square. Accompanied by the award-winning English National Opera Orchestra, the programme will explore captivating scenes from operas spanning the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries.

Experience an intimate performance of Baroque opera scenes at the Studio. With harpsichord accompaniment, this evening highlights the elegance and emotional intensity of the Baroque repertoire in a close, immersive setting.

In their final residency, our 2024/25 Young Artists, in partnership with Opera North, will perform scenes from chamber operas by Benjamin Britten. These scenes delve into the complexities of human relationships and the struggles of individuals on the margins of society.

To mark the conclusion of our 2024/25 Young Artists’ time at the National Opera Studio, we are excited to bring our opera scenes, performed the previous week in Leeds in partnership with Opera North, back to London. This final showcase will feature captivating chamber opera scenes by Benjamin Britten, offering an intimate exploration of his work.
