Portuguese pianist and répétiteur Fernando Loura was born and raised in Lisbon. Fernando received his Master in Piano Performance in 2017 from Conservatori del Liceu in Barcelona, in the class of Prof. Stanislav Pochekin. He concluded his Bachelor’s in Piano in 2015 at Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa in the class of Prof. Miguel Henriques, while at the same time being a private student of pianist Artur Pizarro.
As a member of IOA, he was engaged in productions of Mozart’s La finta giardiniera and A Matter of Triumph and Void by contemporary Flemish composer Wim Henderickx. During the summer of 2018, he was a répétiteur apprentice at Berlin Opera Academy, where he worked and performed in Die Fledermaus (conducted by Peter Leonard and Tom Seligman). During the 2018/19 season, Fernando was a trainee répétiteur at the International Opera Academy in Ghent (Belgium), which works in partnership with Flanders Opera. He performed with the Opera Vlaanderen Symphony Orchestra in Antwerp in January 2019, and was répétiteur on Fromental Halévy’s La Juive at Flanders Opera (February/March 2019).
Fernando has participated in masterclasses given by Paul Badura-Skoda, Boris Berman, Luíz de Moura Castro, Dmitri Alexeev, Artur Pizarro, and Giulio Zappa among others.
He has performed solo and with singers in concert halls and festivals like Miry Concertzaal and Opera Gent, Opera Antwerpen, Real Academia de Bellas Artes and Festival Les Veus del Monestir in Barcelona, and Palácio Foz and Palácio Nacional da Ajuda, Lisbon.
