Bio

Joshua’s time at the Studio is kindly supported by the Paschal Allen Award.

Scottish-Maltese Bass Joshua McCullough is an MA (Hons) Music Graduate from the University of Glasgow, and recently completed his MMus Vocal Performance studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Joshua is a Samling Artist, and was a young artist with Genesis Sixteen and Dunedin Consort. Recent opera credits include Quince A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Don Prudenzio Il Viaggio a Reims (Wexford Festival Opera), The Notary Gianni Schicchi (Grange Park Opera), Hobson Peter Grimes (British Youth Opera), Sarastro Die Zauberflöte, Le Roi Cendrillon and Neptune Idomeneo (Royal Conservatoire of Scotland).

Joshua is often in demand around the UK as a low bass, and for international bookings and recordings with groups such as the Dunedin Consort, Mancunium Consort, Chamber Choir Ireland and KANTOS. Upcoming in 2026, Joshua will join the Dunedin Consort for their annual performances of J.S. Bach’s St Matthew Passion in early April as Judas/Peter/Pilate, and will sing the roles of Father Trulove/Keeper of the Madhouse in Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress with British Youth Opera, and looks forward joining the Alvarez Emerging Artist Programme at Garsington Opera this summer.
