It was a delight to return to Cadogan Hall last month to perform our showcase of semi-staged scenes, directed by Amy Lane. Accompanied by the ENO Orchestra under the baton of Olivia Clarke (English National Opera Mackerras Fellow), our Young Artists set the Hall alight and wowed a capacity audience through their infectious energy and incredible singing. Highlights from the reviews received are included below:

Opera Now

In a sparkling celebration of youthful talent, 17 professional singers on the cusp of notable careers were directed with discretion and good judgement by Amy Lane in a baker’s dozen of semi-staged excerpts.”

“It was a night of too much talent to allow for weighty consideration here, but some moments were very special…

Sian Griffiths and Ffion Edwards gripped emotionally as well as musically in their scene from Massenet’s Werther’.”

The Belgian countertenor Logan Lopez Gonzalez gave such a moving and haunting account of the Refugee’s aria from Jonathan Dove’s ‘Flight’ that the trappings of Cadogan Hall faded from view as he sang….”

…The Young Latvian
Laura Lolita Perešivana has been making plenty of waves recently and her star quality combined with a sumptuous soprano suggests she is ready for any role a big house might throw at her….”

Opera Magazine

"David Buchler found much to celebrate in a dynamic showcase given by the young artists of the National Opera in London's Cadogan Hall."

"The team of singers in the Studio worked hard to deliver an interesting programme....

...A moving duet from Act III Massenet's Werther was effectively sung by a British pair of singers, mezzo-soprano Siân Griffiths and soprano Ffion Edwards. The first half ended with the Act I duet from Donizetti's La fille du régiment wonderfully performed by the Latvian soprano Laura Lolita Perešivana...

....A magnetic Italian mezzo-soprano Arelene Belli stole the show as Carmen...

...Another excellent scene came from Handel's Orlando with Russian soprano Alexandra Chernenko joined by Ffion Edwards and Logan Lopez Gonzalez.

...The evening was a credit to the NOS with some very talented singers ready for a great career ahead.”  ★ (5 Stars)
