As the era of Mozart was drawing to a close, Rossini's was just beginning.

Join us as we present a musical exploration highlighting the contrasting styles and enduring legacies of these two great composers.

In partnership with Opera North, experience this semi-staged production featuring scenes from operas including Le nozze di Figaro, Idomeneo, Die Zauberflöte, Don Giovanni, Guillaume Tell, La cenerentola, and Il turco in Italia.

The New York Times, around the bicentennial celebrations of both Mozart and Rossini, noted, ‘the conjunction of these two celebrations is illuminating. They honor not only two distinct generations, but also two distinct types of composers -- the discoverer and the entertainer. Mozart, Beethoven and Wagner were discoverers; Rossini, Donizetti and Puccini were entertainers..'

The performance will be accompanied by the Orchestra of Opera North.
