Korean pianist and opera oach Hana Kim is a Young Artist on the Global Talent Programme at the National Opera Studio.
She received a Bachelor of Classical Music Performance from Gachon University in South Korea. She then studied at the Accademia Teatro alla Scala on a two-Year course for pera coaches from 2020 to 2022. Her teachers included Nelson Calzi, Umberto Finazzi, Dante Mazzola, and James Vaughan. The course covered careful study of opera scores and librettos, development of piano technique, piano reproduction of orchestral timbre, development of singers' listening capacity as an aid in studying the musical score, attention to gesture, posture, and communicational capacity in coaching technique, and development of critical capacity for musical study via bibliographic resources in Milan, Italy.
During the course, she participated as an assistant to the opera singers of Accademia Teatro alla Scala, accompanying lessons, workshops, or rehearsals of Accademia Teatro alla Scala's productions of Matrimonio segreto, and the 18 performances from the premiere of the opera Il piccolo Principe by Pierangelo Valtinoni at the Teatro alla Scala in Italy, and Le nozze di Figaro at the Royal Opera House Muscat in Oman.
She has taken part in Masterclasses with Prof. Alexandre Dratwicki on French repertoire in Milan and with Prof. Margherita Colombo for the Opera Coaches in Salsomaggiore Terme, Italy. Besides that, she has worked as a repetiteur for Rigoletto at the Theatre Savoia and L'elisir d'amore at the Theatre Bello in Italy.
Hana has a good knowledge of Italian opera repertoire and has shown a great interest in German, French, and English repertoire. She speaks Italian well and is improving her knowledge of the German and French languages. She is always eager to improve and refine her skills, enrich her knowledge of opera, and develop her communicative and interpersonal skills.
