Emma Cayeux is a French pianist from Paris and moved to the UK in 2010 to study a BA in English linguistics and French at Cardiff University. She then auditioned for the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (RWCMD) in 2012, securing a two year scholarship and recently completed a PGDip in repetiteur skills at the Wales International Academy of Voice.
During her undergraduate studies, she won the Bryan Davies accompaniment prize as a second year student, and was a finalist in the 2017 Mary Rees Chopin Prize. She has taken part in masterclasses with renowned artists Helmut Deutsch, Steven Osborne, Steven Devine, and Simon Lepper.
Notable engagements include repetiteur work for Mid-Wales Opera’s 2020 production of Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, playing for James Black’s weekend masterclasses in Wrexham in July 2021, working on Berlin Opera Academy’s 2021 production of Hänsel und Gretel, and being chorus master and repetiteur for North Wales Opera Studio’s 2021 production of La bohème.
Since the beginning of the year, she has worked on Opera in a Box’s production of Carmen, Jackdaws OperaPlus project The Barber of Seville, and with the Lyric Opera Studio Weimar on their latest production of Die Zauberflöte. She is delighted to have joined the National Opera Studio and looks forward to revisiting La bohème at the end of the year in Cardiff with Opera Synergy.
