Announcing our 2022/23 Young Artists

We are delighted to announce the exceptionally talented 2022/23 Young Artists who will be joining the Studio this September for nine months of intensive training on our internationally renowned Global Talent Programme.

It is our mission to prepare talent from around the world for a modern career in today's opera profession. This year's cohort are truly global representing countries in Asia, Africa, Europe and Australia.

They perform together at the Studio for the very first time on Wednesday 28 September - the first of our Wandsworth Wednesday recitals in our 2022/23 season. These are free, ticketed events so make sure to book through our website to avoid disappointment!

Diverse Voices - Spring Term

April 2024

Our spring term Diverse Voices activity was wide-ranging, and we were pleased to continue expanding opportunities for young people in our home borough of Wandsworth. Part of this outreach work involved our Young Artists and singers from our Diverse Voices Programme leading workshops for our local school communities. Life as a repetiteur

Tuesday 3 – Friday 6 September 2024

Life as a repetiteur - led by NOS's Head Coach our repetiteur short course is designed for pianists interested in exploring the wonderful world of opera for the first time, or enriching their existing skills.

Who is it for? Experienced pianists interested in exploring operatic repertoire. Prior experience of working in opera is not required.

Demystifying Auditions

Wednesday 28 – Friday 30 August 2024

A three-day intensive short course designed to demystify the audition and build confidence in front of a panel.

Who is it for? Postgraduate level or professional singers of all voice types.

Eric Melear becomes Artistic Director of National Opera Studio

The National Opera Studio is excited to announce the appointment of American coach, pianist and conductor Eric Melear as Artistic Director, effective July 2024.
Diverse Voices - Schools Project

February 2024

The Diverse Voices calendar continues to be very busy, and we are pleased to have expanded opportunities for young people in our home borough of Wandsworth. Part of this outreach work has included a series of small projects which introduce solo opera singing to pupils from local secondary schools.
National Opera Studio at Glyndebourne

Our Young Artists recently visited Glyndebourne, one of our partner companies, to work with Glyndebourne’s Artistic Director, Stephen Langridge.
