British pianist and musical director Benedict Kearns was a choral scholar at King’s College, Cambridge before working at the Royal Northern College of Music as their Junior Fellow Répétiteur. His diverse work spans opera, film, music theatre and recitals. As a pianist, Benedict has worked with conductors including John Wilson, Vasily Petrenko, Roger Hamilton and Andrew Greenwood. He spends much of his time as a vocal coach, recently working with singers performing at the Royal Opera House, English National Opera, Opera North and Glyndebourne. In addition to his opera work, Benedict was invited to Guildford School of Acting as a freelance Musical Director for their third year undergraduate production of Rowe’s The Fix and was then asked back as an Associate to work with the postgraduate students on devised projects writing musicals. Benedict has toured internationally, most recently working in Singapore as the rehearsal Musical Director for the West End production of The Sound of Music. He is currently working as the composer and musical director for a feature film to be released in 2019. As the Musical Director for critically acclaimed close harmony group The King’s Men, Benedict recorded their latest release, “Love from King’s”. Recent work includes being principal répétiteur for the opening of Nevill Holt’s new opera house with Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro and assisting Toby Purser on Opera Della Luna’s acclaimed production of Donizetti’s La fille du Regiment.
